New Harmonie Photo Session

Kyle and Taylor have been clients of mine for years, so when they reached out to share the news they were expecting and wanted me to capture a few photos to share their excitement with friends and family, I was thrilled.

We met at New Harmonie State Park in southern Indiana for their late summer session to capture the excitement. Their energy was contagious, and I knew they couldn’t wait to share this moment with the world!

I am inspired by the beauty of the great outdoors, and whether it’s near or far, I know that beauty is out there, but who knew that my home state has so many hidden gems. I have made it a mission to do my best to explore the beautiful sceneries that Indiana offers.

Location Inspiration

Since I was going to be in the area, I booked a cabin at New Harmonie State Park for a bit of adventure time with my youngest children and my dear friend and her children so we could spend time in the great outdoors. It was the perfect opportunity to capture the announcement photos for Kyle and Taylor close to their home and a chance for my crew to soak up more of Indiana’s natural beauty.

Located in the historic city of New Harmony, IN, New Harmonie State Park is approximately 30 miles from downtown Evansville, IN. The quaint downtown had the most adorable architecture bustling with coffee shops, eateries, shopping, and attractions, including a fantastic playground at their city park and a living labyrinth, a maze of greenery.

We felt right at home downtown and enjoyed the amenities. We picked up pizza from the Yellow Tavern for an easy dinner at the cabin. We enjoyed hot coffee and breakfast at Sarah’s Harmony Way. We learned how soap is cut into bars while shopping at the New Harmony Soap Company.

The state park, located on the banks of the Wabash River, offered a quiet and serene getaway. The kids enjoyed the playgrounds and hiking, smores over our campfire, and card games around the dining table in our cabin. We could have stayed here for much longer and had plenty of stuff to keep us busy.

The cabin was well equipped and spacious; linens are not included with the rental, so don’t forget to pack your sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels.

I am looking forward to returning and bringing the rest of my family to explore more of the park and downtown. It would be fun to stay in the cabin during colder months when we can take advantage of the woodstove with a crackling fire.
